*** Update***
Using Batch Organize gives results and changes as expected.
Clicking "Albums and Collections" then batching photos from that menu creates unexpected results after saving....

So I tried out their new 'magic view" to make a new public album.
Pulled many already public and some new private images into the new public album.
Then, it showed all those private albums with 1-3 photos each in my public view.
In addition to the one large public album (extremely sloppy presentation)
I desired to undo that. And go back to what I had yesterday.

I then deleted that new public album. (not the photos themselves) exactly as it was before.

Now most, if not all of my posted photos on this forum, in my Gallery and elsewhere have broken links.

In conclusion, I have ruined almost all of my own displayed images on this forum, and I don't see a way to fix it.
I have checked the posted photos in my gallery and the url hyperlinks are identical except there's no image without repasting individually. :(

so i looked at your 'fanta pear soda' image that's in your gallery...when i click on the image to take me to flickr it says the image is not public...if you go to the image individually and select it to be public, i wonder if that would fix the issue

also, something not related to this at all...but the reason that 10-18IS wasn't selling for $220, is because you could buy it direct from canon refurbished for $200 just last week...even now it's only $239 from them(sorry...but when i was looking for images you had posted, i saw posts about the lens for sale :))

Try again on my pear soda one, because Flickr seems to have a mind of it's own.
When I click on the url links my images display as public.

I wish I could make a screen shot video in what it seems to be doing.
I have now spent too long trying to sort all this out.

I just send an 11 photo album to public and is shows +185 more public photos.:rolleyes:-?
Including totally random ones I know for a fact I never made public as they are family ones.
I don't know what this BETA Camera Roll is doing but correctly I don't trust it.

I will make all of my photos private for now, and if that breaks links, so be it :(

I now have 100% private Now Ill set one photo from gallery back to public, see if it displays and what Flickr does.

^ Me too (Re: green and pink)

My primary issue, is that when I set back my 10 public albums that I have ALWAYS had, all my links on here are BROKEN!!!
I don't think it was user error, because setting those albums back to public does not fix posts on here.

While I could re post my 10-20 gallery ones, I cannot fix the 100+ others I posted individually in other threads
without search for my own posts and re-pasting the embedded photos.....
I could overcome the 'bugs' in whatever Flickr is doing, but it's a totally wash for all my posted photos here. vmad

when did you try setting the 10 albums back to public...right now i don't see anything public on your flickr page, which would go along with your screen shot

i'm going to try posting a photo i know is private of my own, and then see if i can get it to go away and come back by just changing the viewing

so after that experiment it seems like when you make the photo private it warns you that you are changing the url of the photo...so i think that's the issue...i don't think there is a work around like i was hoping of just switching the privacy setting...

yeah, i did a bunch of logging in and out of flickr there...i'm actually surprised you can initially see the photo when it's private...you can continue to see it when i make it public...but after switching it back to private it goes away, and any switch there after doesn't matter...

don't think i've helped to offer a solution, but just confirmed your problem

Thanks That confirms that Flickr is breaking it's own links when setting private to public. And public to private.
Therefore any attempt for my hopes of 'autocorrecting' my posts here are completely useless...... vmadvmadvmad

I do find it very interested that you CAN see the Green and Pink as it IS set to private BEFORE posting and STILL is private.
That is why I made a few disorganized albums in the first place!!! To be able to share and display them on here!

*** If this whole time they could have been ONLY in private albums and STILL shown up here, I would have been so much better off!
Everything I have on Flickr is EXTREMELY organized by dated albums as are my physical backup drives.
Great for finding a photo at a place by searching for a date (or at least the month I was there)
Bad for something specific such as a when or where the 'pear soda' photo was taken.
(that requires my own memory to find unless I copied it to small public album)

I only choose to display photos I think are good, or something relevant to a topic.
I therefore put those photos into public albums individually 'so I could share them' here.

yeah, i find that a bit surprising, i know in the past if you went to share a private photo flickr would tell you that the photo had to be public...i guess that doesn't apply anymore

Thanks so much for your testing, and actively helping. :)
It's surprisingly difficult to line up times with others from here in Japan.
I am often commenting discussing and posting at 3-6am USA time.
Suppose it is about 1am or so for you now.

Since we have confirmed private doesn't matter, and that public / private / public destroys the posts

I will now be testing a new 'solution' if you care to follow along, to gauge results.
This WON'T mix up anything because it will export them.

Use Camera Roll AND magic view.
Select 3 photos you are certain are in different albums.
Batch them to a new album Don't change anything public / private on them.

Download the whole set to your computer.
Last upload that album as new photos and as Public.

Test resulting post of those photos. vs the ORIGINALS side by side on here.

That will let me see what it's doing differently. And a potential solution for my existing content going forward.

I can confirm, changing a private photo to public does NOT break the link AND it will retrieve the EXIF data automatically if public.
If private, no 'auto EXIF'

And public photo to private changes the url (Live and learn, no going back now)

Thanks for taking time to check the Flickr oddities out. The problem with all this is that you have to add photos to gallery again (and request best ofs to be redone if applicable). I'm also in Japan now, so any any attemps to make code changes to help with these kind of problems will have wait a few days. Flickr really needs to keep the urls solid after permission and gallery folder changes!

The only solution now by us is that you upload the photos using our upload tool.

Thanks Pekka.

Yeah I'm not so concern with adding 20 odd photos to my gallery again.
It is just said to know that my 100+ lens gallery posted and other shared example photos are all broken across this site :(

Live and learn. And leave my Flickr alone.
I am quite happy I can post private photos directly on here and they are displayed.
that is 10000% easier.
The "green and pink" is private and displays fine.
