The folks at Yahoo/Flickr seem to think it's good to always be changing things and making what they think of as "improvements".
In reality, the changes often suck.
They lost me a few years ago when they did a major overhaul and changed the way that images and photo streams are viewed and presented.
I wanted to like the new Flickr, but just couldn't because it showed big thumbnails and takes much, much longer to load pages than the old Flickr did.
I still have my photo stream there, but I don't post anything new, and hardly ever visit the site anymore.
I used to be there every single day, whereas now I only visit Flickr once every 3 or 4 months.

Now most, if not all of my posted photos on this forum, in my Gallery and elsewhere have broken links.

In conclusion, I have ruined almost all of my own displayed images on this forum, and I don't see a way to fix it.
I have checked the posted photos in my gallery and the url hyperlinks are identical except there's no image without repasting individually. :(

Just one more example of why it can be much better to attach photos when posting to POTN, as opposed to linking to them.
I really don't understand why so many people link to their host site when they could just attach the image and keep it on POTN's server.
If you do that, it'll be here FOREVER. Which is always a good thing.

I really hate looking at old threads from 5 or 10 years ago and finding that most of the images are gone.
That sucks.
If people would attach their images, that would never happen, and all info from all threads would remain perfectly in tact.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

^ I have attached images here sometimes, but they seem to lose the EXIF data, that is retained through Flickr.
When I was starting to get 'serious' about the hobby here in Japan, a good friend showed me his Flickr, how to use it, and everything.
I was happy for all the assistance and never looking into other options as it offered more features and space than I need all for free.
I see it as a MUCH better alternative to sharing high res photos with family and friends than Facebook.

I was a happy user up until a few days ago when their new "magic view' prompted ME to make a new collection / public album,
I was unhappy with how it then handled all my private albums.

When I 'undid' that public album it effectively broke all my links WITHOUT warning.
It DOES warn you about URL changes when changing an individual photo.
But had ZERO warning when you use Organize ( Ironic name, yes?) to change setting on all of the 200+ photos your were using all along.

Interesting! Seems Identical including the data automatically.
Well done Pekka and tream!

the problem with attaching the images, at least from 5-10 years ago, was the file size...you couldn't upload an image larger than 150kb...so it was a million times easier to just link to a full size photo on flickr...yes that's changed now, but it's still just as easy to link to flickr so i think it's just a habit for many
