The one part that bugs me is the green grass

There isn't much you can do, other than:

- Try to frame the scene via viewfinder or live view as best as you can, by looking at things around the heads of your subjects or other objects that draw undue attention

or

- Crop out the problematic areas afterwards.

or

- Use and learn Photoshop or other editors to remove things that detract from your intended story/photo.

For shot 1, you could crop out the partial legs and grass, and shot 2, you could photoshop out the silo.

If I remember right Jessi, you are using Lightroom for editing. One thing you can do with the first image is go to the HSL panel and use the Saturation tab and pull down the greens. It will make those greens all but disappear. It might have some impact limited on the blue shirt, but I think it would be easy to do without too much difficulty.
I also like the second image without the silo. This is still an issue I am dealing with. I have to consciously tell myself all the time to watch for things like that in the background. It is amazing what one step left, right, forward or back can do for an images composition.

Ron I am using the cloud so have both LR and PS..but I really do not mess with PS. I do have some others with the silo a little ahead or behind him I will have to try and see if I can't get the silo out like Teamspeed did then I will have to use a different image all together.

Good idea on taking the green down

HSL has already be mentioned, but there's some more ways to enhance the look you're going for.

Adding some magenta to the white balance can also help, depending on what general hue you want in the photo.

Some split toning (subtle yellow-orange to the highlights) can also help.
