But if you're just starting out or if you're experimenting with a new process, I highly recommend referring to the ones included with LR as they can be very instructive. Don't simply apply the preset, but, instead, study what qualities are being adjusted. Then you can perform the process without aid of the preset. There's plenty of free ones available online. I wouldn't waste my money on the ones available for sale. -Matt

So when I find I am using a similar group of settings repetedly I will make them into a preset.
