I captured this shot yesterday of a bald eagle perched in a tree in my neighborhood. Kind of looks like he was smiling at the camera! :)
Shot with a T3i, EF-S 55-250, ISO 200, handheld.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Nice photo I see you were using a 250 lens how close were you to get this.
I seldom can get close enough to us less than 600mm.

Eagles will soon be returning to this area looking forward to getting some photos. :-D

What a completely unusual shot of a Baldy. They usually look so menacing/determined with the classic "furrowed" eyebrow line. This is truly different.!

One happy bird! Nice capture.

Thanks! I'm guessing she/he is happy to be sitting around in the warm Florida climate for winter. ☺

Thanks! I'm guessing about 150 to 200 feet away. I cropped this shot from the original image. I wish I would have had longer/better glass with me at the time.

I wasn't so lucky with a pair of great horned owls a few trees away.

Thanks! There are several eagles scattered throughout my neighborhood. There was a recent news article about a "love triangle" that ended tragically for one of the eagles; while the male egle was away at rehab for some injury, a younger male moved into the nest with the female. When the older eagle got out of rehab and returned to the nest he found the new younger male had moved in. A fight took place and the older male eagle lost the battle and his life. I wonder if this pic is of the younger male eagle who might be displying a triumphant grin... ߘ
