Hi SX People ...
I seem to get very different colour casts - for instance between AUTO and AV pref.
I guess this may be a setting somewhere - any ideas ?
Thanks
Nic

By "Auto", I assume you're referring to the "green box". That doesn't use the same White Balance setting that Av or the other "Advanced" settings use. In fact, it'll only use AWB (Auto WB), while Av can be set to any available WB mode, including Custom.

Thanks .
Have you also noticed very distinct differences ?
I must admit I don't have it under control, so I must go and shoot a variety of shots and note the settings, and decide which I like best or which is most natural. When the weather is better anyway!

Well, I don't use Auto, but unless I'm going to be photographing a lot under a known set of lighting conditions, I usually use "AWB". The exception is household tungsten lighting, since that tends to be warmer (red/orange) than AWB can handle. Most household tungsten lights are around 2800-2900 K, Canon says (in other manuals, not in that for the SX50) AWB handles the range from 3000K-7000K. Daylight is in the 5200K-5600K range as a marker point. Of course, I also shoot RAW and set a custom white balance when I process a final image.

The EXIF should be visible I hope.

It is, but alas, the only difference in the EXIF I can see is that one was shot at ISO 320 and the other at ISO 250. The WB setting for both is "0" and shutter speed and aperture used are identical. The framing is a tad different, but the subject's a uniform enough color that I wouldn't expect that to matter. Do you remember which was shot in what mode (looking at them in Canon's software should tell that)?
