Back in 2010 I saw my first Crested Caracara in Florida. I managed a distant shot but I don't think I've ever shared it anywhere. Still I was happy to have seen one since they don't make an appearance in my neck of the woods. This past spring I made it a priority to find these birds and fortunately I did with the help of a good friend. These are the last of this year's collection. The juveniles were more plentiful and somewhat curious about the guy with the big lens along the road. I didn't get as much action as I'd like too but maybe next time.

This is what happens when you're shooting a static bird in portrait format and it decides to stretch its wings. I don't like to clip wings but this shot of an adult Caracara reminded me of the classic Bald Eagle pose.
