Hi all,

I currently own a Gorillapod SLR Zoom (with Joby ballhead) and a Manfrotto MK394H. In terms of gear I have a 6D with 24-105 f4L; sigma 35mm ART, canon 85 1.8 and 40mm pancake. I use a Blackrapid Crosshot strap.

I find it to be a pain in the neck to remove the Blackrapid FastenR to user the Manfrotto quick release plate and the Joby one. I also find the joby ballhead to be difficult to lock.

Would the Manfrotto 494RC2 ballhead be compatible with Gorillapod SLR zoom. I would also use a Blackrapid FastenR-T1 to add Blackrapid compatibility to Manfrotto plate. I would thus have release plate compatible with both my tripods and with my strap.

Would that work? Has anyone used that combination? Is the head well balanced with the gorillapod?

Thanks a lot !

Jérémie

Update, since then I've ordered and received Blackrapid FastenR-T1, works great with my manfrotto tripod quick release plate ; I now need to figure out about the manfrotto ballhead on gorillapod slr zoom

The manfrotto 494rc2 has 3/8 female in the bottom, i assume the gorilla has a 1/4 male. Easy fix with a manfrotto 1/4->3/8 bushings.

Agreed with the bushing. But your Gorillapod SLR Zoom should have come with the bushing already. Thats how the ballhead of the slr zoom is connected already, maybe its stuck within the threading?
