Still Life

I don't know if any of you have been affected with bad weather as we have lately, but this challenge will give you a chance to do something indoors. Show me your best still life shots! Setup something indoors & photograph it. I'll be looking at creativity, composition, and lighting for this challenge. Whether it's a product type photo or a favorite remembrance or trinket from home, practice your still life skills and show me what you shot!

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 12:00 PM (noon). Eastern Standard time Sunday, November 15, 2015. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter. Standard Rules apply for Photo Submissions:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, (not just DSLR)
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge. Camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN!

* New Topic - After winner is declared. * Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced. * Posting Ends - 12:00 p.m. (noon) Eastern Time Sunday, November 15, 2015. * Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Thanks for all the participants this week. Here are my comments and the results...

Darkslinger - I like the idea of the Lego dude. Those things are always cute subjects. It looks like the focus is a tad off to me on the main subject though.

Benitoite - That's a clever image, but it looks like a little too much CGI for my taste for this contest. I bet you had some fun working on it though. I admit I want to get into more 3D graphics when I have time.

EnfieldRyder - I like the idea of a rose that's past its prime, and the water adds a little extra interest to the image. Curious, were you trying to do something special with the color of the surface?

M_Six - I like the nice clean image of the watch itself, but the background detracts a bit from the subject. Maybe an all white or all black background would have really made the watch stand out more.

Jason C - Black & white works well in this image. There's enough intrigue and visual elements to keep the eye lingering in the photo.

Scatterbrained - I thought this as also a clever image. Were the clouds and water in the photograph or added on the computer? Either way, they work well here. I really liked the way everything came together in the image- composition, lighting, and creativity.

With that in mind, Scatterbrained gets the nod from me this week, with Jason second.

Thanks again everyone!!

Good choice. Excellent image, Scatterbrained.

Would you mind sharing how you did it?

Lavanut, Thanks!

As to how it was done, the cloud is made from cotton and hung over the set with monofilament line (clear fishing line). The rain is from a shower head that I was pushing water through with a baster and hose (it was kinda messy).

That's very cool and very well done. Thanks for the explanation!

Congratulation, Scatterbrained - a real winner of an image! As the entries came in I could see there was no way I could compete as they were all so good!
