Quietly walking on a local hillside I came across this young falllow deer. The light was rapidly failing, so the ISO is much higher than I'd like, but I thought it worth posting anyway.

QUOTED IMAGE

Very nice Chris. The colors and the habitat take this pic of the young fallow deer over the top.ߘ

In our local woods the best way to spot deer is to visit at a time when the dog walkers have gone home, and just stand still and wait. One trip at the end of February, on a cold Sunday afternoon at about the time the sun was setting, I stood next to the trunk of a large old oak when I noticed a faint movement in the undergrowth. The setting sun was behind me, so the fading light just fell on the spot perfectly. The deer spotted movement as I raised the camera, and I just had time to get a couple of frames before it turned away.
