So I've got one of those inexpensive 24x24 softboxes.. and I'd like to mount it to a bowens light.

This thing here KIND OF looks like what I'm looking for, but it's not Bowens-S, anyway.

Can anyone suggest what I should search for on ebay, etc?

Measure the current baffle to see what the outside diameter is. Since there is no standardization for the speedlite softboxes you are going to have to come up with solution of your own. Compare the existing insert to the outer diamter of the one you linked to.

Can you link to, or show us the softbox in question? Some speedlite softboxes are already Bowen's S mount modifiers that have been fit with a speedlite-to-Bowens adapter, others are made to velcro right onto speedlites, or have proprietary/non-standard mounts. Since this is a case of finding an adapter, it's important to know what the starting point is.

I guess Dan is referring to the million & 1 Ebay clones of the original (non-current) Ezy-box by Lastolite - if so, they require a 6 in diameter flange.

Again, if so, he requires a Bowens (S) 'insert' or 'adapter'.

But those inserts are not all made equal. Bowens (UK) always make sure that the flash tube is well forward of the plane of the bayonet receiver mount. However other manufacturers copying the mount don't always do this. Which means that it's important to search for a Bowens S insert or adapter with the shortest front to back (A-P) dimension, so that lateral spread of light from the flash tube is minimally restricted. The best I've come across to date is that from Phottix (from their Luna range) with a max A-P dimension of just 35 mm. It works very well with those Ebay Ezy-fold clones.

Yeah, you have the idea, OceanRipple. Thanks.

When I really need it, I'll likely get it from Phottix there.

This is the mount currently:

But hang on.. I do have one of those cheetastand s-brackets. That's converting the wrong way, isn't it? (mounting bowens modifier to work with speedlite)

Mount a 24" softbox to a strobe all the time. I use the 6" inner speedring and it mounts up like the speed light bracket in post 5.

yes, but notice how deep it is, which is what OceanRipple was talking about. The one flow rider and I linked to is much shallower.

But hang on.. I do have one of those cheetastand s-brackets. That's converting the wrong way, isn't it? (mounting bowens modifier to work with speedlite)

yes, you're right, my mistake.
