Have you 'locked' the SD card - the little tab on the side?

Is it possible you using a card reader which doesn't allow write access? You would need write access in order to delete a file. I prefer to format the card in the camera instead of selective deleting.

I was able to put them into a folder just not delete. I got them all burnt onto a DVD and reformatted the card in the camera.

Thanks

Try and put a file on the card. If that doesn't work, you have a card reader with no write capability. If you can't write to the card, you can't delete from the card.

SD cards are cheap. Buy a new one. At worst you have a spare.

I posted about this in the computers thread, sounds like a similar issue.

Everyone automatically jumps on the bandwagon suggesting the the Write Lock is On or the card is faulty and new one should be purchased or the card needs to be formatted. In my experience they are all wrong and it is actually an OS issue, the solution that I found works is to uninstall the card reader driver from the PC then re-install it. It seems to be an issue with Windows 10 and possibly 8.1. I know it's not the card because the issue has happened on one PC but not another PC, surely if the SD card was faulty then it would be apparent on all PCs.

Windows 10 has just done a big upgrade, will need to see how this performs now hopefully they have corrected the issue even though it has been difficult to find proof that it is windows problem.

Most of the time when someone ask me about this type of problem it is usually because they altered images on the card in their computer. Try formatting the card first and then put it in your computer and erase anything left on the card. When using sd cards it is always best to just drag your files to the desk top and then remove the card. Do not work with the card in the computer if you are going to use it in a camera. Also if you put the files in a folder on the sd card , take them out.

Since the 1511 Windows 10 Update the issue has corrected itself on my system.

Although there may be instances where others are correct and people are having problems due faulty cards, lock switch in wrong position etc. The problem shows as delete option not being available from Windows explorer... THERE IS DEFINITELY an issue with PCs with built in Card Readers and Window 10 OS (and probably Windows 8), Google reveals many such instances but no accurate reliable resolution - which IMO points to a buggy OS and or driver interface - whether this is compatibility between driver and OS or a bug in the third party driver or the OS itself has not yet been proven and no information has been found on the internet yet.... So if all other issues have been tested and negated then it would appear that the only solution is to reinstall the driver software or wait for the OS and or Driver to be fixed....
