PS 2015, windows 7 16 bit...open ProPhoto image into PS>duplicate via image dropdown>flatten>apply HDR Toning.
New image is automatically converted from ProPhoto to sRGB color space.

Verified by Adobe customer service...answer by end of day...I want a kewpie doll at least.

The image seemed irrelevant as the problem repeated itself regardless whether it began as any RAW image from LR
or an existing PSD image from my hard drive and was repeatable at the Adobe customer service using their own images.

Workflow seems to be the key...open any ProPhoto image in PS 2015>flatten if necessary>apply HDR Toning>
voila, you now have a sRGB color space.

what is your working color space in PS? When you convert the image to 32bit, it is probably converting into that (linearized) space.

PS 2015, windows 7 16 bit...

16 bit operating system? Windows 3.1?

I also read "convert to 32 bit" in this thread,. are people using 32 bit color files?

I am confused about a lot of the terms/numbers being used.

Yes - 32bits per channel = HDR image file formats like Radiance, EXR, etc.

Aah...over where?

Where I'd risk to be called a "color management moron" for using "Satanic RGB" most of the time.

I have noticed that the threads on LuLa, especially those pertaining to Lightroom and Color Management, usually degenerate into name calling and generalized ad hominem within 2 pages or so. Good times.
