Got this Sharp-shinned Hawk near the bird feeder. Certainly explains why no other birds had been near there this morning!

There big brother look-alike the Cooper is around 15"+, Sharpies go after small birds in the woods, and the Coopers go after the larger ones on the fringes. Beekeeper Goldmember More info | Yep, sharpies usually go after chickadees, downys, nuthatches, and sparrows. Cooper's will eat doves, starlings, and the hens will occasionally kill pheasant and squirrel. I had a pair of Cooper's nest in my yard for several years. They were a lot of fun to watch.
