Mod: Move this where you think it fits best.

Perhaps some of you have seen this. I saw the photos a while back and then just saw this. Read the article and let me know what you think.

The parts that stuck out to me was "Blackburn (the photographer) claims Brittany’s father threatened to sue her for allegedly making money off the photos, a claim she denies."

Makes me wonder how her contract reads.

It also says that she promised photos within 2 weeks and its been 7 weeks due to being held up by the media attention.

Thoughts?

I agree the only dispute seems to be slow delivery and some misguided comments anout creating a poster.

Funny, I read this at work and had the same reaction, but to such a degree, I did not even know what to post.

A few hours later, same thing.

Seems like a non event from the word go. Can't imagine how it ended up anywhere, let alone all the way here.

On the other hand, on the drive home I heard that some dude posted a youtube singing a song about a WalMart pie. Yes, a WalMArt pie.

Guess what? The pies are sold out everywhere, WalMart is sourcing a million pounds more sweet potatoes to make more pies, the pie which usually sells for about $3.50 is selling on ebay for $40.00...

...and this story makes it to a national radio show, and thus, here to this little corner of the world called POTN..... -?-?vmad:rolleyes::eek:??

My confusion was more basic. From the title I expected at least good and interesting photo. I would have chimped this one out of existence before anyone else even saw it. 70 million really bored viewers, I suppose. No surprise, look at the popularity of TV. Stupid pictures that move.

I dont know of there was video or what I saw that first drew me to the story. But it was on the local news as a kicker, the dad and stepdad had a moment. The stills arent as moving if you dont know the backstory.

That makes sense. There HAS to be more to it than the linked article and photo.

Everyone was posting this on Facebook a couple of weeks ago, that's where I saw it. After I read the story, a stepfather pulling the real father into the wedding, I'm like, okay, ummmm, so what's the incredible news I'm missing here?! What was so earth-shattering about it that I had to see it on my timeline every day for a week?! I'm still wondering.

The family politics concerning step families can be colossal pain in the ass so its nice to see them work together. I once did a wedding where the bride had a dad and two stepfathers in attendance. One step had raised her from a toddler through early teens and the second had seen her through her teens. Mom hated dad and step 1 with a fiery passion but the daughter loved all 3. So during the formals we had a family member hijack the mom and get her out of the room so the dads all got a nice shot with the bride as a group and individually.

Having four parents of my own, I do understand the coolness of the incident. Pretty cool indeed actually. Fortunately, all my four parents, including the Gay one, (yes only one, you want to talk about politics!) get along great. I could see this possibly happening at my sisters wedding but it would have been the other way around.

I agree, it is sad what becomes news these days. It's a nice story and all, and I'm glad I saw it, but I don't get why they freaked out. They are complaining about the photos taking too long and one of the fathers allegedly threatened to sue because the photographer is making money from this. That's what stood out to me.

If, in fact, they did threaten to sue and it is covered in the contract, it just goes to show how ignorant the general public is regarding photographer rights. Also, I think they are pointing out the late photos in an effort to discredit the photographer and justify suing them.

Another thing that got me is the comments I've seen on facebook. Many people saying "The photographer has no right to post these." "They paid for the photographer, they own the photos." etc, etc. And all of that is without knowing how the contract was written, so they just think the photographer has no rights. That disturbs me, because I (and I'm sure some of you have had to deal with them) have had to deal with clients who don't understand photographer rights and believe they own every image I take while "working for them." I would like to just tell these clients to go find someone else, but I don't want them going off thinking that they are right in their thinking and spreading that bad way of thinking onto others.
