My first Oben ballhead had a ball locking mechanism that, when loosened all the way, still would not budge.

The replacement ballhead flopped around until I figured out that the three screws that mounted the bottom of the head to the rest of the mechanism each required 1 1/2 turns to tighten. Oben customer service has been very quick to authorize returns in each case. The second ballhead I repaired myself, noticing the screws as I prepared it for return.

My email to Oben:

While preparing this ballhead for return shipment, I noticed three screws attaching the bottom of the ballhead to the rest of the mechanism. All three were very loose, requiring at least 1 1/2 rotations each to tighten. Once tightened, my problem was fixed.

Thanks for your quick response, much better than satisfactory.

Not nearly as happy with Oben quality control as I've now received two ballheads in such poor operating condition they NEVER should have left the factory. A for customer service, F for quality control.

Best Regards,

Paul L

I bought an oben a few years ago and it came with the head cross threaded onto the center column (I think lol, all I can remember is plastic threading the size of the leg tube), I sent it back and bought a benro which was much much nicer but also 3x the cost.
