ok i have decided on what lighting setup im going to buy.

I would email Alien Bees and ask them if their speedring will work with photoflex softboxes, because it's cheaper.

Just get a translucent pannel, a cheapo light stand and an A clamp. It'll be way less than a soft box, way easier to assemble, give awesome results, and be more flexible. And seriously...to the original poster...as was mentioned on the first page of this thread, read the stickies about lighting and light modifiers. All the questions you asked are answered there and a whole lot more.
