Has anyone bought a DSLR with a fake serial or model number?

Hi,

I'm a researcher for the BBC One consumer affairs series Fake Britain. We are currently investigating DSLRs that have appeared on the UK market with counterfeit serial numbers, and even whole body panels switched for those of more expensive models. If this has happened to you or anyone you know and you would like to be part of a feature warning British consumers about the issue, then I would love to hear from you.

You can reach me by private message, or at thomasbell@screenchanneltv.co.uk. All information will be handled in strictest confidence.

Many thanks to Pekka for giving me permission to post this request.

Thanks for reading,

Tom

Good luck with this one Tom. It will be interesting to see your programme on this topic, never even considered such a possibility of a fake body panel. Mind you, having seen Fake Britain before, the scammers can fake just about anything/everything.
Any schedule for the programme to air?

Hi Ian, thanks for your interest. We're still in the early stages of production on this so we won't have a transmission schedule for a while I'm afraid. Our latest series has just started this week though!

I wonder if this has anything to do with Canon going after some shady retailers.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
