We've had snow and we've had wind and nothing but dark skies, but I keep trying to get the perfect shot of the male red-bellied woodpecker that has been hanging around since October 30th. I had gotten decent portrait shots and today finally got some good full-body, nearly full-frame shots. I see Christmas card material in that second shot. What a handsome devil he is.

My wife's hobby is card-making, so I showed her your second shot. Her response: "Why don't you get pictures like that?". Thanks a lot, pal!
Seriously, beautiful shots, my friend. Don't know how you could want anything more.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments. The only thing more I could wish for is a little sunlight!

Thanks, guys. It was actually snowing a bit on the second shot, so I had my hands full getting a decent exposure.

another perfectly capture set....Detail, colors, lighting....picture perfect . #2 is my fav...the perfect white balance( in snow) has really helped highlight birds striking color on cap and also subtle chest feather color
