I too remind the parents to keep their eyes on me, but paternal instinct kicks in and they look to see what the kid(s) are doing.

Or the other part...when they aren't in the picture, and they are waaaaaaaaaaaaay camera right/left getting the kids attention...then are like "look at the camera!"

I gently suggest that if they stand behind me while getting their child's attention, they don't even have to say "look at the camera"
