I have been asked by a friend to recommend a Canon camera for her 14 year old daughter who is showing signs of loving photography (especially abstract ) I have determined that she would like the ability to go beyond P mode eventually so is looking for something that will start her off using the normal macro, landscape, portrait modes but the ability to go beyond into Aperture, shutter speed modes eventually. Her budget is around £200-£300. I have had my trusted 5d mk11 for a long time now so don't tend to take any notice of new models coming out. Can anyone give advice please?

Heya,

5D classic makes sense, cheap.

Otherwise, any 60D, T3i, T4i, T5i should do it, if going Canon. Used/Refurb.

Yongnuo 50 F1.8 is $50. Or Yongnuo 35 F2 is only $90.

I bought a 10D with a grip for $40 from KEH. Perfectly relevant camera and didn't have to spend more than dinner for two for it. Add a cheap $50 prime lens and you're set.

Very best,

I couldn't find a refurb section on Canon's UK store but a NIB 1200D (body only) is £270. This is the same camera sold in the US as the Rebel T5.

Anything in the Rebel lineup is a great starting point. My wife and I still use our 7ish year old T1i (500D) with very few complaints/limitations. The only reasons we're currently thinking of upgrading are to get better high iso performance and to get a full frame for the wider field of view.

Constructive criticism is always appreciated.
