Currently I am using a 30D. Canon is now selling the 7d refurbished for $600. Worth the price and would it be a good upgrade for me? This is for the body only and I have good glass already so I don't need to upgrade that.

I think it would be a terrific upgrade over the very long in the tooth 30D. It's build like a tank with a much more sophisticated 19 focus point AF system. It does use CF cards only. It has a better LCD screen, more features, an 18mp sensor with better low light results, and HD video. The design is close to six years old, but it was the best APS-C camera that money could buy at the time. For $600 it may be the way to go unless there is some reason you need a newer body with all the latest features. Only you can determine if the feature set meets your needs, but if it does and your budget is restricted, than this is a camera that will not disappoint. Keep in mind there was a major firmware upgrade a few years ago to version 2. This upgrade added new features to keep this aging camera competitive. I'm guessing that since it's coming from Canon, the firmware will already be upgraded, but if not, be aware that you need to download the latest version.

Heya,

Your sig says you have a 7D?

The real question is... what do you shoot that you think a 7D is your next path?

Very best,

Very best,

He said he shoots a 30D, but after reading your comment now I am confused, unless he bought it today and just updated his signature.

Thanks guys. I did purchase the 7D. Couldn't pass on the price and after searching and reading numerous threads here I went ahead and did it. Thanks for the opinions, I think I did the right thing. Mostly what I am looking for is better, faster focus for sports and wildlife and better low light abilities. The extra megapixels will help with cropping as well. I also got an additional $60 off for the loyalty program and free shipping.
