Strange thing with my 7dMarkll

This has happened twice now in the last 3 weeks. While taking photos the camera seems to lock up. I noticed looking through the viewfinder that it was dim. I turn the camera off and then back on and it seems ok. I am wondering if I am having a shutter problem. Anyone else have this issue?

Any chance you were accidentally pressing the DoF preview button on the front?

Another thing to check - if you are using the battery grip on your camera, make sure you have the grip screwed on tightly. On a couple occasions I had some erratic behavior only to find that snugging up the grip screw solved the problem.

That is exactly what it looks like. I can't imagine I did that twice as the button is not that easy for me to get to with out trying to hit it. I will keep an eye and see if that is what I was doing. Thanks for the tip. Also Lupo-Lobo I am not using a battery grip.

It can also be a faulty lens. I had the same problem and it ended up being a bad ribbon cable in the lens.

I'd try another lens or clean the contacts on that one. Worth a try.
