25 days post warranty (bought camera Oct 28, 2014) the mode indicator ring on top of the mode dial popped off. I was outside a few minutes this morning, then came in and set the camera down. I left the room for a few minutes and when I returned the mode dial indicator was sitting off to the side of the camera. Perhaps 2,500 snaps on the camera and I rarely change modes. Temperature differential between indoors and out was about 12 degrees.

I have read about this with the 6D, 5DIII, 7D original and others ... is it defective glue? Why hasn't Canon fixed such a simple issue.

What is the resolution - glue it myself? Send it too Canon and pay them to glue it? I put the indicator back in place and it was holding while I ran errands today ... it is however a cruddy feeling knowing it could pop off at any moment.

Life is too short to worry about something so minor. Just fix it yourself, it is just a cosmetic cover, and glue is cheaper than shipping. This is not a widespread issue, but yes sometimes through the course of thousands of bodies, that glued cover can come off.
