Owl on northern plains tree

This Owl is sitting on trees common to the Northern Plains. We tie these trees together with wire to keep the wind from blowing them over!

Their second favorite perch is the "white-picketed" plains tree, sometimes even the "buff-picketed"

Good one Dave. Nice that he cooperated for a pic. They don't seem to want to do that for me. When I lived in that part of the world, those trees always seem to have a strong lean to the East.:-)

Thanks everyone! These are mostly new trees, most of our old ones were leaning to the east and fell down during an ice storm.:lol:
We usually have quite few owls in the winter but finding them is the thing. I spend all day running around the country so I'm lucky that way. Most of my images this time of year I get while I'm at work.
