I have got a big job coming up. So far my equipment is a 10D 70-200 2.8 550EX, off the shoe cord II, 3x 512 Sandisk ultras.... Within the next day or two i must decide for a lens in the 24/28-70/80 range . Do i cough and go for the Canon 24-70 2.8 L ?? That is the question. I have tried to find a cheaper but still great alternative... i just dont know? Will i be as happy with the lens as i am with the 70-200 or is that impossible? I am in serious need of a shove in the right direction ....

I have a Sigma 24-70 ex 2.8 I am very happy with. originally I was concerned until I had a couple pro friends of mine look at the images and print them on thier lab equipment, now I am completely pleased.

Some people say you need to use just a little unsharp mash with this lens but I dont see the need unless you are going larger than 8x10.

I also have the Sigma 24-70. It is sharp, but seems a bit slow and is certainly noisier than L glass. If I had it to do over, I would buy the L glass. I will end up trading this in shortly when the $$ is available. Wanna buy a slightly used lens?
