Raven, I thought perhaps you had shot through the car window as it was moving. I said "Wow" out loud when I saw it. Pretty darn good, with or without motion. :-) I appreciate your entry during a stressful time.

Thanks, Lesley. It was shot through my windshield but not when moving. I was just trying to be artsy with this one :-)

Ah, congrats to the winners this week. Loved the coffee shot, Lesley! Thanks for the hosting job, OhLook!

My dog, Jack, loves to play tug of war and jumps really high to grab the rope. I had a terrible time getting anything with the whole dog in the shot because he jumps so much. Here is what most of my attempts looked like (if you really want a chuckle).

Congratulations to Teekay. Wonderful shot. I cannot figure out the method. What speed did you use? That is so excellent. God forbid we could capture our politicians in action -- those who are standing still and those who are moving.

On the other hand, "those who are moving" may not be so pretty, nor desirable.

Liked Raven's Glass shot, and J'whislte's (coffee bean roasting).

Great theme from ohlook.

I'll likely be 'out' for the next week or more --- life intrudes.

cheers.
Carlo

Thanks, Carlo! As I explained in an earlier post on this thread, I just used 1/5 shutter speed to get the right amount of blur on the fast moving players while trying to handhold the camera still enough so that the static background wasn't also blurred. After some experimentation I shot in M at f/8 and ISO 80 so that the exposure was about right overall. Most shots were rejects due to hand shake.

Incidentally, I'm not a hockey fan and rarely shoot sports, so I have no idea what the players were actually doing apart from trying to bang pucks into nets.;-)a

Didn't mean to make you repeat. I've been consumed in an effort to get an unused car ready for an interested neighbor, and I skipped thru all comments.

'Handshakes' for all things 'Modem' is a good thing. But all things photography depend on a stable base, and avoiding handshake. I suck at that so many times. Thank god for Digital.

BTW, I love the Asterisk feature of canon G9, but often forget to use it. This is a good reminder.
