A short road trip from Florida to Texas. Suggestions?

In December I will be driving from Fort Lauderdale to Livingston Texas to visit family.
I will stop for the night somewhere in Alabama or Louisiana.

Any particularly interesting thing on the way?
Will be on the highway most of the time, but I'm always looking for an interesting photo opportunity.

I can be of no practical help but I love this because it reminds me of one of my favourite parts of Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island where he writes about how soft we British are in relation to journeys the length of which most Americans "would happily go to get a taco".

I have no clues as to where to go but looking at the potential travel route there's plenty of Gulf terrain to cover.

But in agreement with the Taco statement. an ex-girlfriend of mine and I once flew to Boston for the day from Chicago for a lobster and fish dinner. Then flew back home after dinner. Those were the good ole days...

Take 98 thru Panacea, Carrabelle, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe area and beyond in the Florida Panhandle. Plenty to shoot along there

Well, that would be like you going from Madrid to Munich. But we don't have the rail network like you do unfortunately for us.

I ended up having bad rains from Tallahassee, Florida all the way through New Orleans.

It was a good trip to see family.
But the destination was better than the journey in this case.

Thank you for your suggestions though. I have seen some nice landscape style photos of the gulf both seaward and inland and they are impressive.

Maybe on another trip I can get good photos.
