Has anyone got or seen the Tamrac Adventure 7, im quite tempted buy this bag, but cannot find many reviews for it. Has anyone got any pictures of it, especially the inside and staps (harness).

Or can you recommend anything else, I don't want to carry all my gear, just my 20D with sigma 18-200 lens fitted, 50 1.8, sigma Super EF 500 flash and maybe a few other smaller items.

I want a split bag, so I can carry personal items aswell as the camera. Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Chris

I have seen this bag and it is pretty big. I too am looking for a backpack that has room for personal stuff but what I want just does not exist. I have found when there is a personal compartment, the gear area suffers. The Tamrac looks to be high quality. I am leaning towards the Adventure 5. I could always put some personal items in with my camera gear.

I am planning on purchasing a 70-200 f2.8L IS so room for this is a deciding factor for me.

Amazon has some user reviews on these bags FWIW.

The Orion II is a nice bag but my only camera/lens setup barely fit. Forget about future expansion.

I recently got the Tamrac Adventure 7, and contrary to what col4bin has said it is not that big at all! It is marginally smaller than the Orion Trekker (first version).

It fits my 20D with 16-35mm attached, plus room for a Tamron 28-75 in the pocket, and a small prime. The top section can take a book, some lunch, and a compact umbrella, and that's about it.

The harness is very comfortable, and has a belt strap too, which I have tucked into the side pockets as I don't use it most of the time. So very pleased with the bag, but it is small.

I guess big is just an opinion. I went with the Expedition 5 so I can grow into it. Of all the backpacks I checked out, I did not see anything that really matched the build quality of the tamrac in the same price range.

i think lowepro, which is a lot cheaper, matches the build quality of tamrac. im not saying tamrac is a bad brand. i absolutely love and wish i could afford the expedition 7 (new version is very nice :D .) but for something just as good, you should consider lowepro.

i own the lowepro mini trekker aw, and i love it!

Crumpler has a few decent choices in the way of split bags/backpacks. I carry a Customary Barge and it has room for a body and short lense attached or body and a couple unattached long lenses. It's worth a look if you haven't checked them yet.

I got a lowepro rover plus AW for long day hikes. The bottom holds a 1D, 300mm f4, 70-200 f2.8, 50mm prime, and a 17-35. The top holds a jacket, raingear, lunch for two and a bottle of wine. Outside has a nice tripod holder. The suspension system is as good as any backpack I've ever seen.

The drawback of the split bags is that when the top is stuffed it's very hard to get gear out of the bottom. I wouldn't use this bag for everyday use -- too clumsy. but for a 10mile hike, it's perfect.

I have the Adventure 7 but it's at home, I'll take some pictures tonight and post. I like the bag alot, it's great for going on hikes. I went out the other day and had my Rebel XT with 28-135 IS (hood attached) and battery grip, 70-300 IS and 18-55 kit lens some fiters and of course some snacks and misc. stuff in the top.

Hi Kenny,
Can the bag take 70-200 IS? :)

IM also looking into this bag (adventure 7) but I have one quick ?. Does the camera part of the bag have a zipper or is it all held up by the quick release strap? Ive only looked at pictures and have never seen any zippers.
