Seems like the QT-600 attempts to balance color temperature with duration, whereas the Einstein is able to be switched between CC and Action mode, prioritizing one at the expense of the other. All philosophy aside, if the charts are to be believed the Einstein is faster across the range (even in CC mode).

Gotcha, so basically the QT600 only has a color mode, whereas the Einstein 640 and B1 have color and action modes. I wonder what kind of circuitry or timing is involved in both configurations? How does one physically prioritize flash duration over color? Same principle I would think that applies to the 7D Mark II's color shift mode? Timing delay?

My first question that stands was in my previous post (are these numbers accurate?).

People aren't answering the question overnight because it involves an oscilloscope/photodiode and actually testing the product with the right knowhow, which few have put their hands on so far.

You interpretted what I wrote differently. You could have reread more carefully in context, or I could have restated what I asked to be clearer. You don't have to be so abrasive about it. Please lay off the ad-hominums. You're reading too much into what I said and are making things very personal.

I think you're projecting your own character onto others. I'm genuinely asking. I can't help if you're being irrascible.

No not angered at all, quite humored actually. :-) I probably was interpreting your comments for what they weren't, I seem to have done that once or twice in the past. I thought they were all in regards to my post but it seems you must have been carrying multiple conversations and I was just not let in on that fact.

Yeah, probably it. Text doesn't carry tonation here, so word choice.

I'm not an engineer, but as a hand-wavey explanation. I think that in Action mode the IGBT is allowed to cut off the flash earlier along the flash curve (where the color of the flash is bluer), whereas Color mode waits a bit longer so that there is more of the reddish component of the curve. In non-IGBT strobes, changing the voltage will affect the duration and color of the flash as well as the light output, whereas capacitor switching will affect the light output but keep a constant voltage (= constant color).

On that note, you can set the Broncolor Scoro packs to emit any color temperature (at the same power setting) within a surprisingly large range. All you need is $20k for a Broncolor system!

But they installed a ratchet handle and a description of how to use it in the product instructions.

I bought longer bolts and added washers. Doesn't look the greatest but it works good.

Can give me the length of the bolt and I assume the thread is metric.

Anyone using an X1-N with a D800 and/or other Nikon body? If so, is it creating consistent exposures in both TTL and Manual modes at all shutter speeds?

Its always going to be consistent in Manual mode as long as your shooting in Manual mode as well.

The I-TTL II is as consistent as I-TTL can be

Yes, exposures should be consistent in Manual mode at or below x-sync, but the X1-N behaves differently. Here are two test cases that demonstrate the issue.

Are your running V1 or V2 with current firmware, because we tested all the way up to 1/8000 and had pretty much consistent exposures throw out? This was done in a controlled working area thou.

360ii-N is firmware version 2.3. X1-N is firmware version 12. In terms of V1 or V2, the unites were delivered this week from Amazon. The X1-N serial number (?) is 5L17A.

The 360 will v1 since there was no changes at this time since it didn't need none. Why I'm asking was the V2 x-1 has a tighter fit in the hot shoe and was just wondering if your getting full connection.
I will run a test tonight on the D800e and post what I get.

Was there a reason why your light was set at an angle in you test images?

That looks like it may be the flash going onto HSS mode at 1/250th.

Have you got the camera set to go into HSS mode at 1/250th or 1/320th?
