Most customers recognize that TTL is inconsistent, but not getting it right in MANUAL mode is unacceptable. I've used at least 7 different radio triggers, and the X1 is the first that has failed to get it right.

Anyone know if Cheetah has fully tested the X1-N and/or X1-C?

RJ and Duke tested the Nikon V2 X-1N last Sunday for Cheetahstand had great results. I would contact them and ask their input.

Tested this outdoors after seeing your post, and the results were the same. I'd say this rules out radio interference.

Was that an issue for the Nikons as well as the Canons?

Unless outdoors is far enough away from buildings etc. so that your laptop sees no WiFi networks there is still potential for interference.
Most important, relative to interference, is that low powered devices using the ISM band must accept interference from licensed users.
Worldwide the 2.4GHz band is allocated for FIXED, MOBILE, RADIOLOCATION, Amateur & Amateur-satellite service. So there are a lot of devices that could be offering interference, even outside.

The only way to be sure would be to do a scan and see which channels are least likely to have interference then assign the devices to that channel.

While all that may be true, the gear has to work in the real world where 2.4ghz devices are common. It would be useless if it only works in a laboratory. That said, I suppose I can live without 1/250.

I don't have an AD600, but I was interested / concerned enough that this might be a non-flash-specific problem with the X1 system that I just went and did some tests with my AD360.

I could not replicate the problem.

I shot a gray card at fixed power levels at 1/20, 1/45, 1/90 and 1/180 and saw no difference in the exposures. The flash meter placed beside the card showed 1/10 stop variance on a frame or two.

I repeated the test at 1/128 power, 1/32 and 1/4. I didn't do full power in deference to a nearby cat.

Owen.

I know Adorama and Cheetahstand shipments were V2. I can't say for any other online places selling the product because their not labeled or tagged V2. The Factory started sending them out this month.

My point is that it may be necessary to find a cleaner channel to use rather than the one that is currently configured in the system.

I tried a dozen different channels, and the results were the same each time. Histograms from the back of the D800 with everything in manual mode are shown below. I talked to Edward (Cheetah), and he wasn't very encouraging when asked if Godox might address this in the near future.

In TTL mode, the X1-N/360II provides reasonably accurate exposures at all shutter speeds except 1/250. At 1/250, images are underexposed, and the histogram looks strikingly similar to what I'm seeing in manual mode.
