Dave, I know you have some tests on your web site but does anyone have shots showing full body subject out in the sun to see what HSS can do? I have been reading this thread and old flashpoint thread, some folks show it is easily capable of over powering ambient but no one shows clear tests. I would be very much interested in knowing this. Right now with my Einstein, I can NOT over power afternoon sun using a modifier like a softbox.

Bobby, "over powering" means different things to different people.
If you explain your shooting situation I'll look through some stuff to see what I can show you.

The H1200 head has two flash tubes. It looks like there is an independent circuit from each pack to each tube.
Does that mean that each pack can be set to as a separate UNIT for doing a sequence?

That will do it. Thanks. BTW - Are these bare strobes or a modifier?

Nice those red letters...is did really read Fail on the first picture and was asking myself why that picture was a fail. Luckily I could make out that that was an other word. ;-)a

That is correct

You can fire each tube independent of each other

to kill the sun it was a stock 7" reflector at 6 feet using a 1200Ws strobe. If you want to kill the sun with a 600ws you need to be at 3 feet and you will not get full body. shot at f/32 and a ND filter

The over power the sun was 600ws strobe using a 7" reflector shot at f/32

If your goal is maximizing power, the Elinchrom Maxi Spot does a great job raising the output of a strobe. It is the same shape as the fireball, but the internal surface is polished smooth silver instead of the pebbled finish on the fireball. It gives a 29 degree spread of light output, which is about the same as the field of view of an 85mm lens on FF (56mm on crop frame).

The Elinchrom has the advantage that you can use diffuser disks to get a more beauty dish like effect. The disks can be translucent, white, silver or gold. And they will work with the bowens adapter I have as well as the adapter which works with the Godox 360.

I'm sure there are other options from other brands. This class of reflector is often used for sports, where you need a long throw.

Using a soft box with two baffles is the opposite of an efficient light source :).

C&C always welcomed...
On my images, of course, and on my words as well--as long as it's constructive :).

Bounced into a large silver lined umbrella (softbox type thing without front diffuser).

Not sure if this was reply to my post but in my case I was just trying to see how much HSS helps with 600ws strobe when shooting full body outdoors and using double diffused softbox. I wasn't looking for efficiency.:)

Works fine depending on how close your modifier is to the subject. Your not going to kill the sun, but over power, balance and fill will work just fine.
