Just restore the backup you did right before updating.

If it's been less than 4 weeks since you upgraded, go to Settings | Update & Security | Recovery and choose "Go Back to Windows 7".

There's a whole new subdirectory, Windows.old, which contains application, etc. data from your Windows 7 version of applications; if, for instance, you use FireFox and/or Thunderbird, passwords and mail can be found under the Mozilla subdirectory (they don't use the \Users\{username}\AppData folder which Windows expects applications to use, so the data gets lost rather than passed along).

When you start with a negative attitude you'll find a way to justify it.

I've been using W10 since it was an early beta, it's worked 100% fine the whole time. If you're having problems with it reinstall it, and make sure your drivers are up to date. W10 is a good OS and reliable. You could also have faulty hardware.

In your dreams. I reinstalled, un-installed all programs, (thinking it could be something other than Win10), did everything I could think of to speed it up but bottom line it had ny hard drive at 100% usage 100% of the time no matter what. I finally made the mistake of restoring to Manufacturers install. That did re-install my original OS, but Microsoft in it's wisdom de-activates all OS licenses when updated to Win10. So now I have a fairly new PC that has no operating system. Microsoft is glad to help all I have to do is purchase a new licenses. I opted for a new iMac instead. How soon do you think I will purchase another Microsoft product? And yes I have used MS since Dos 3.0

Lumens, I find the first sentence of your post offensive. Personal attacks and inferences are not welcome on POTN, if you think it's acceptable I suggest you find another forum to participate in.

There will always be people who have poor experiences - computers are complicated, and with PCs there are probably millions of possible hardware combinations. Apple has much more limited hardware so should be more stable, but of course you pay a price for that.

I believe W10 is stable and reliable for the vast majority of people, including my family and friends, and various work computers.

I didn't lose any apps when I upgraded but for some reason photoshop always force closes now whenever I try to do a panorama. Also my wifi refuses to work, but I just hardwired everything so that's not an issue. The wifi works just fine on my other computers so I don't even care about it anymore.

Other than that it's been really stable, hasn't froze on me once.

Wow. I'm following this thread because I'm considering upgrading to W10.

You find, "In your dreams," offensive and a personal attack??? We really are on PC overload, and I'm not talking about Personal Computers. How thin-skinned can one get?

Edit: Sorry if you find, "thin-skinned" a personal attack.

I'm liking this forum less and less. Many of the really experienced guys, the professionals, have left and a lot of experience has gone with them.

Sorry, I have deleted the post as it was more an emotional response from a bad experience. Nuff said.

My apologies, Tim. I should've just stayed on topic. I'm letting other issues cloud my demeanor.

Anyway, back to Win 10... ugh. I was hoping for a relatively painless upgrade, but looking at other sites as well, seems a clean instal is, indeed, the way to go. Not looking forward to that... Reinstalling all my software and programs, reloading all files from backup, drivers, and so on. Looking at microsoftstore.com W10 only got 2.5 stars from users (The pro version fared better), I'm wondering if some of those folks were having issues with the upgrade as well.

Maybe I'll just keep everything as is for now, and wait for a HD crash before going to 10 ;)

I'm with Tim. I've found Win 10 rock solid. This is in a classroom of 26 kids and getting constant usage.

I upgraded three Win 8.1 machines (Surface Pro 3, and 2 Toshiba laptops). Only glitch I experienced was with my wife's upgrade (well, she upgraded it, then left me to sort things out) where it lost her SeaMonkey email. Found that in the windows.old and was able to recover it. I don't use LR, but my PS CS6 came through fine.
