He would let it out everyday to fly and he would have a whistle to blow and it would always come back (whistle=food). After a few years of owning it one day it never came back. They are pretty big close up in person.

Most falconers will trap a juvenile bird,train it, keep the bird over the winter and hunt with it, and release it the following spring/summer. Some will keep the bird for a few years, but usually release them if they are not captive bred or uncommon birds like Gyrfalcons, Lanner falcons, etc. Zach--C&C is welcome on my photos
