Here's a quick video with the Photek Soft Lighter...

For the money you can't beat it.

Behind The Scenes video:

The bottom modifier is a 22 inch Mola Demi white.

Thanks, Craig! There aren't an awful lot of good videos out there about the Softlighter.

Two quick questions:
1) I own one. But I find I don't use it nearly as often as I thought I would. How often would you say you go to this modifier?

2) Is the unusual catchlight it produces at all a problem for you or your models/clients?

I've had it for quite a while and never used it for about a year.

It's a little hard to control but I do like the quality of the light.

I plan on using it more often, I think I still need some practice with it though.

I think the catch light is fine.

bannedPermanent ban

I mainly use the Photek 60" as a fill light when doing portraiture. I find it more useful for architectural photos of interiors.

I also have the 45" version which saw more use when I was working with flashguns. Now, I hardly ever take it out of the sleeve.

Great shots. What stand are you using over the sofa and light? Can these be used with speed lights?

Yes,

It is a regular umbrella.

They can be used with a cold shoe speed light mount.
