My 6D will be 1 year old in march. It is working fine with no issues but I was wondering if its worth sending it in for a service/ check over before my warranty runs out.. Is there any benefit from doing this??

If its working fine, why give them the opportunity to break something?

I think the free clean is a CPS (Canon professional Services) thing, so unless you are a pro that isn't happening.

As mentioned above warranty covers failure of product and workmanship, not preventative maintenance.

You don't need to be a pro to get CPS. You need to own a bunch of Canon stuff. I qualify, but I don't see the logic in paying Canon to provide free services. I'll worry about fixing something... wait for it... when it breaks.

Ive never sent in a camera for anything in all the years. I've owned 8 DSLRs and never once has one needed to go in for repair or a service. In fact, I just sent in my 1DIV and 5DII to my local shop for a sensor clean as I wasn't managing to get it done good enough so left it to the professionals. It was going to cost me £30 for 2 bodies but got it free as they didn't do it on the day I wanted and ended up getting them back a day later. Thats all I've needed, not bad going.

I've had two DSLRs and only sent one it for a warranty repair (5D mirror issue). They also "cleaned" the sensor, after which, I had to clean it again.
