Hrm,

I think if her head were elevated and chin up, it would have been much more powerful and purposeful as an image.

This is what I would do with the image. Cropped to 8 x 10. Using PS CS 6 Curves tool I darkened the image to increase mood.

Yes, I like the darker version better.


A photograph is worth a thousand words, but Photoshop can produce a thousand lies. Photo editing allowed. I need all the help I can get.

I sort of like the original. But the sand/sky/water is flat. maybe a gradient or burn, making the far and mid left much darker so it really moves your eye to the figure and shadow. the shadow seems to get lost when the whole thing is cropped and darkened. That would also hide the water "sidewalk" in the left, which really just detracts.

Not sure I would try to salvage the photo but if I had to, I'd do a tighter crop and lift the shadows. I only had a screen shot to work with so couldn't push it but you get the idea.
