You can certainly use flash for pre-show or post-show posed portraits. Just not during the performance.

On that second image, use Lightroom's radial filter to even out that center hotspot, so the exposure and white balance are more consistent with the rest of the image.

+1 on the Lightroom radial filter. That, for me, is one of the best adjustment tools adobe added.

and the graduated filter is excellent for shots with uneven lighting too.

I was at a Hard Rock Cafe on New Years Eve a few years back. They had a rock band on stage entertaining and TV broadcasting the evening's events. The HRC manager asked me to photograph the event. I spoke with the TV crew to coordinate. They said fine, just no flash.

But a place like Hard Rock is designed for stage performances, with a crew and a budget for decent performance lighting. You don't get that in a lot of venues.

I might hazard a guess that the location posted in the OP doesn't have a dedicated lighting crew or permanent lighting fixtures. Sometimes you're lucky to get a couple of LED "stage lights" pointed at the stage, and who knows what colors they're going to be.

Medium format, 2.8 lenses. 1000 ISO film.

The stage was lit with the usual cans and the location was the HRC in Seoul S. Korea.
