I made another post on this topic in the EF Lenses forum (where I go a bit more into detail), but I'm thinking I should get the opinion of wedding photogs specifically. Long story short, I want to modify my portrait kit to handle weddings and portraits, but I'm not rolling in dough. My question is, do you think I will miss my 35 f2 IS (if I were to sell it) when my 24-70mm f2.8L MK1 arrives in the mail?
Currently I use the 35mm for group shots, environmental portraits, and wedding receptions. I'm thinking that while the original version of the 24-70 may not be as sharp (and a stop slower), it will excel in those three areas, eliminating my need for the prime. Especially when I consider that most of the time, I am stopping down beyond f4 anyway. What would you do?
