Super shots. I have to try a kayak sometime. Did you have a cover over it to act as a blind?

Very nice shots, I'd be scared of rolling over and ruining my gear

Excellent set!
I used to shoot from a kayak, and you cant beat the low angle, and the birds are very approachable!
Regret selling it!

Thank you guys. After kayaking for years the fear of rolling over goes away, and it's fun to just get out and explore.

I followed a family of Loons (2 babies/ 2 adults) for months. I started out by letting them approach me when they were fishing (they were extremely skittish in the beginning). After time, the loons became comfortable around me. Oddly, I could not bring anyone along in another kayak (they were afraid/ didn't come close to me...) The color or the kayak is tan, I have camo on the lens, and wear a camo hat. However, being in the middle of a large lake in a floating kayak is obvious to anyone. Therefore, I didn't see the hassle of using a cover.

Lovely shots, Thomas. Love loons; have never captured any but hope to do so!

Taking pictures of the loon family for a good period was a great experience, and I hope you find some loons!
