1st Post on this forum. Melanie is a model for www.beltsbootsbling.com (external link) which happens to be owned by my wife. Melanie is so easy to shoot, though you might like my latest shoot. Critique is always welcome.

Lighting is nice but the focus in the first one seems a bit soft.

Thanks for your comment. You are right on about focus, the 5DSR takes beautiful images, however, I need to break out the tripod and use it a lot more than I have.

Welcome, Swan.

The lighting in #1 is a little hot, at least for me. I don't think focus is too bad. I don't know about you but I can't use a tripod when doing this kind of shoot.....just too much moving around and it makes it difficult to change position quickly. But, here again, that's just me.

I like #2 but I might like a tiny bit more light in her eyes. And maybe just a touch of skin work. Her hair on the right where it is back lit by the sky has an odd look to it as well. I suppose you could color it or you may even be able to remove it.

Hope you stick around.

I agree that the lighting is hot in the first relative to the background. Nice subject.

#1 is a little hot for me as well, but it works if that's what you were after. Very Miami Vice to me. ;)
DOF on #2 is pretty thin... seems like her teeth are OOF. 1/125 at 85mm is pushing it a bit maybe? Was your IS on?

Ditch the tripod idea and just speed up your shutter speed a bit to ensure sharpness.

Are you interested in post processing feedback here, or not? Thought to ask before I just start typing....

Always interested in feedback, fair warning, my wife was using a lightroom filter on the 1st image (she liked it), I'm still not sure,

#1 has an 80's look to it. Not bad, but it does look quite outdated. Then again, that might be the look you were going for.

Tripod won't help with focussing on her shoulder rather than her eyes.

Second shot would be nice, natural portrait if her eyes were lit enough to match or better the brightness of her teeth which draw your attention.
