Assuming your car is as smooth as possible but you still need additional support for your camera....what would you use?

For example shooting a moving car thats driving next to you...

Simply hold the camera in the normal way and let your body absorb motion/vibration. As soon as you would brace it against a portion of the vehicle you would introduce undesirable motion.

Shoot a burst. The 2nd shot is usually steadier because the 1st is affected by the pressure on the shutter release.

Just get an old Citroen with the hydraulic suspension, rest the camera on the edge of the door and get smooth video! The BBC used Citroen's for over 25 years for their horse-racing coverage using bumpy tracks and there was no such thing as stabilisation for video - they got very smooth sequences though!
This is probably not a very practical solution but having owned 5 Citroen cars with this suspension a Rolls Royce feels like a skateboard!

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

LOL!!! There's a great BBC documentary series about Paris. One of the episodes had a section on French filmmaking in the '60s. They showed how they would take the lid off the Citroen's boot (which is in front) and there was room to set up a tripod and stand and shoot from there. I wish I could find the clip...

Would a lens bean bag be useful for this type of situation?
