I realize this technology is on its way downhill but I still own lots of optical disks and am not ready to close the door on this area of my life, just yet. I was thinking about a cheap, $25 DVD/CD drive by say LG that works on USB 2.0 and doesn't do Blu Ray but read lots of bad reviews about them not only not working with some modern systems like Win 10 and OS X, or worse yet losing data connection with the laptop. Here's one that's more expensive and in addition to R/W blu rays (which I don't think I'll need anytime soon, to be honest), it has a lot of good reviews...

Pioneer used to make decent gear in the past, so it's probably fine. I'd also see if Lenovo, Asus or Dell has something. I'd also rather buy from Newegg (not one of the Newegg partners) or because I'm in Canada I also shop at NCIX and Memory Express. I avoid Best Buy like the plague :)

Couldn't agree more with that last Best Buy statement. They are expensive and in the past I've caught them putting defective product back on the shelves. That's when I stopped shopping there.

I have an hp DVD/CD writer that I bought from Newegg a long time ago and have had no problems with it. I've used it on several laptops and pc's without incident.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.
You're a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space. Fear Nothing!
