I was siting in our room thinking what a great trip it was, and this shot was right in front of me. Was it me and the time, or does this say a lot? I cropped it from the Previous photo.

It's a really nice shot, but I think that if you had taken one shot, and exposed for outside, and one shot, and exposed for inside, then blended the exposures (http://www.thelightsright.com/videos/BlendedExposures.mov (external link)) it could have made it even better :).

I like it, it ceratainly does give the impression of a lazy holiday. I think you could have cropped a fraction of the bottom edge out though.

Thanks to both of you. This is what I was hoping for in this forum. Being new to photography, I've learned so much by reading other posts. Yes, I can see now where I could trim off the bottom. That's a great idea of two shots (one out and one in) and blending. I'm going to try that technique on another shot. Thanks. Now, I just point and click with the "green setting" and later justify the deficiencies by saying something like, "The over-brightness on the outside is saying 'You need to bring those sunglasses if you get up off that couch and come out here for anogther Red Stripe.'"

Great shot Coach51,

Nice composition and proper exposition for the scene.
Well now you know you can take great pics even after drinking two beers ;)

Cheers

Hehe - it really is a nice shot - and most importantly, the composition is decent and the mood you capture is spot on - if you look at photography in magazines, or if you look at portfolios of decent photographers, you'll often see them breaking rules, or having images that are not necessarily perfect technically - but it's breaking those rules that creates some of hte most amazing shots - you're making a great start!

You may also find, if you move from green to P - this is also fully automatic, but allows you more control - e.g. if you want to narrow the depth of field, by twiddling the wheel you can change the aperture or shutter speed - you don't get that option in green.

Enjoy!
