ID small flock of persimmon eaters?

Hanging out in a persimmon tree next to a street. They remind me of cedar waxwings, but they're marking-deprived.

Thank you, but what happened to their bright red feather tips? "These birds' most prominent feature is this small cluster of red wax-like droplets on tips of secondary flight feathers on the wings" (Wikipedia).

The red markings are only not always present.
These look like Cedar waxwings to me. The only other possibility is the Bohemian Waxwing, but that's not these guys.

No red marking visible (the norm really) The red or orange is due to diet.
The red is not actually at the wing tip, it is on the secondaries when found.

Thanks, Jake! I guess, in Wikipedia, "most prominent feature" doesn't mean "most reliable field mark." The red color is prominent when it's there.

They will if persimmons ferment. My experience with 'simmons is approximately zero.

Nice capture of the flock, the red wing-tips are normally only visible from the side or back and all but impossible to see from the front. May be some juvenile birds in the group also. Looks like a good place to get more pix of them while the persimmons are on.

Thanks. I saw the birds from different angles as they moved around, and they didn't show any red. I was watching for it because they looked like waxwings otherwise. This shot just happens to show mostly their fronts.
