What's a good "walking around" lens?

I would go with the 24-105 as I took 3 lenses with me on a trip to the Mississippi Delta and the only lens that I shot with was the 24-105.

Reading this thread from the beginning. I was rooting for the 18-135 IS STM ;)
I think you made the best decision in my opinion.

FWIW, I walk around with my 35L on 5D mk III. I've owned the 24-70 and it never really grew on me. I am thinking of buying the 24-105, but that's mainly because I want to use it for video.

A friend of mine walks around with a 24L on his APS-C Canon (can't remember which body he has) and that thing seldom comes off.

My vote would also be for the 24-70. That's the range of focal lengths when I think of "walking around".
