My First Aurora

So with a Solar storm the Aurora alert showed the possibility of action tonight. I am too far in land for anything substantial but we had some lights. Was able to get this shot. Looking forward to trying this again some time.

Pretty good for a first go at it I'd say! I was just looking at the ovation map and we have a clear, cold night so there's a strong chance here too!

I miss the Aurorae, 16 yrs ago I moved from southern New Zealand to Sydney, Australia and haven't seen an aurora since :-(

being inland is irrelevant ... high latitude and clear view to the north ( for you) is all that is needed :-)

This is about the same Aurora that we get here in Montana USA, a few hours from the USA/Canada border.

Sunday 06/03/2016 Mother's Day here in Ireland we were treated to this impressive display. The best I have seen here in Ireland.
