Good one, Dave; I'm envious. It seems like sightings around here have really slowed down compared to earlier in the fall/winter.

Nice shot, just found my first of the year an hour ago. In your area do they show up in the same places each year too? They've been reported in three counties around me within half a mile of the past two years. Lots of discussion on whether we're seeing the same ones, especially with mature males.

Thank you! Early to mid morning is the best time to find them here. I don't know where they go mid day but they disappear. Then late afternoon they're back hunting.

Thanks Peter. With your new addition I'm thinking your trip planning is on hold?!

Thanks Al, there is 6 in the area that I know of right now. They should stay until about March, depending on weather.

Thank you! I think they do come back every year, these guys all have they're own area to hunt staked out and don't stray to far when they get back for the winter. Same goes for the moose that come down from Canada for the winter. They'll come back to the same area every year. Built in GPS I guess!

Thanks Rog, these are pretty easy to shoot, they're pretty calm usually. I don't get flight shots very often though, they usually perch up high and then jump down and away. I have lots of owl butt shots though!
