While this won't be tremendous news, I thought I would share some side by side comparisons from prints. I messed around and didn't get to order from White House before Christmas, so I decided to go through Sams club instead.

I had ordered the White House prints for myself a while back, and decided to get more of the same prints for my family as Christmas gifts.

These two examples are all that I had ofthe same, but it was the exact same file sent to both places. I did check the Sams club "don't do in house color corrections" box.

Again, the fact that my White House prints were better is no shock, but it's always fun to see comparisons!
There is a noticeable pink cast on the SAMs print here. In this photo it looks like the White House print may have a greenish tint, but that was not the case.

And then the whole family shot, the color isn't bad but the detail shot shows the problems here.

With both images, SAMs club had a richer/ more contrary image and lost details. I'll post close ups in the next post to show those examples.

Again, nothing ground breaking but at least more food for thought.

Canon 5d, 85mm 1.8 for each photo.

Here is a detail comparison, the White House print had much better detail.

From White House:

And using my ugly mug, you can see the subpar performance in the color photo.

From White House:

My official vote - order early enough to let the pros do it!

It'd be easier to understand if you labeled each image on the image where it came from. I'm surprised the cheap ones are so different, it's mostly automated these days, all the labs I've tried in NZ do much the same thing.

FWIW, you can't really compare "WHCC vs. Sam's Club vs. Costco" as a group because they're individual stores with individual operators. I've seen complaints in the forum about a Costco in Canada while I've never been let down by the one I used.
Even then, it doesn't hurt to slip a 4X6" standard print into the occasional order just to keep them on their toes! ; )

That's also valid. I've never really had a problem with sam's, and aside from the color tint in the black and white shot I wouldn't have had too much of an issue with these.

Also, there is only a .30 cent difference between the cost of the prints, but one hour versus 2-3 days is what got me here this time.

In a pinch I'm fine with the Sam's results, but prefer the White House set.
And yeah, different Walgreens/Sam's/Costco or what have you can have variances I'm sure. White House should be pretty consistent I would think, but I haven't been with them long enough to know for sure.
