It is now 2016 in many places but I have a few more hours here in Colorado before I see the ball drop. But I want to wish all of you a Healthy and Happy 2016! May it be filled with wonderful photo ops.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to J. Whistle for handling the hosting duties. I seldom enter this competition because I don't use the little compact much nowadays. Its half-shutter-press feature stopped working and I moved up to a G15. The caterpillar trying to look like a stick is a moth larva, genus Pero, reared on buddleia leaves in a terrarium. They're nocturnal. During daylight, they often (always?) make themselves straight and hang motionless, though not usually horizontal like that.
